Quebec invests $813M in transportation networks in Chaudière-Appalaches region

The Government of Quebec announced an investment of $813,471,000 over the next two years in the road, rail and airport transportation networks in the Chaudière-Appalaches region.

“Since 2018, our government has chosen to invest ever more in our infrastructure, particularly in transportation, to make up for the underinvestment of previous governments and provide quality infrastructure to Quebecers. In the context of economic unpredictability we are currently experiencing, this choice is particularly wise, since each project creates jobs, supports our businesses, particularly those targeted by American tariffs, and stimulates the economy in all regions of Quebec. What’s more, one of the best ways to help our industries remain competitive through this transition to new markets and a redefined economy is to offer them optimal logistical conditions, namely efficient transportation networks. Investing so much is therefore an ambitious choice, but extremely strategic for our citizens and our economy,” said Geneviève Guilbault, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.

The amounts granted enable the completion of significant projects, such as:

  • the repair of Route 216, between Route 283 North, in Saint-Paul-de-Montminy , and Chemin du Lac-Carré, in Sainte-Apolline-de-Patton;
  • the completion of the widening of Highway 20 eastbound, between exits 318 (Taniata Avenue) and 325 (Route du Président-Kennedy), and the preparation of widening work westbound, between exits 325 (Route du Président-Kennedy) and 314 (Chemin du Sault), in Lévis;
  • the reconstruction of Route 275, between 40th Street and 20th Avenue , in Saint-Prosper ;
  • the reconstruction of route 112 ( Notre-Dame Street ), between Saint-Noël Avenue and the Fermes River, in Tring-Jonction ;
  • the reconstruction of Route 216, between Rue de la Reine and Rue des Cèdres, in Saint-Elzéar.
  • These last three projects are carried out in collaboration with the municipalities concerned.

“We continue to invest here in Chaudière-Appalaches to maintain an efficient and safe transportation network, but above all, to improve the quality of life of our people! We know that the economic context is difficult. That’s why the government is staying the course and launching these projects: to create good jobs, give a solid boost to the local economy of several municipalities, and make our travel in the region easier and safer,” said Bernard Drainville, Minister of Education and Minister responsible for the Chaudière – Appalaches region.
