The Government of Manitoba announced it is investing $6.1 million for a highway reconstruction project in Powerview.
“Whether you’re commuting to work or school, or exploring Manitoba’s incredible provincial parks, you deserve a safe and reliable highway network,” said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Lisa Naylor. “We’re investing in the repairs and new projects Manitobans need to safely reach their destination. Strategic investments in highway reconstruction projects enhance safety, support communities and strengthen our economy.”
The project involves reconstructing a 1.7-kilometre section of Provincial Trunk Highway (PTH) 11 from PTH 304 westward. It also includes curbing to contain water within the right-of-way and catch basins and culverts to direct water into the Winnipeg River. The open ditches in town will be filled in and landscaped, which will allow the town to construct sidewalks, noted the minister.
“This significant $6.1 million-investment from the Manitoba government in the reconstruction of PTH 11 is fantastic news for Powerview-Pine Falls,” said Mayor Les Barclay, Powerview-Pine Falls. “This project will not only improve the safety and efficiency of this vital highway for both drivers and pedestrians, but the added infrastructure like curbing and the filling of ditches will also enhance the overall quality of life in our community. We deeply appreciate Minister Naylor and the province’s commitment to investing in our infrastructure, which is crucial for the continued growth and prosperity of Powerview-Pine Falls.”
“Budget 2025 invests in infrastructure projects that will create jobs during construction and operation, stimulating local economies,” added Naylor.
The tender for the project has closed and will be awarded shortly, noted the minister, adding construction will commence this summer.
