The Government of Quebec announced an investment of $386,160,000 over the next two years in the road transportation networks in the Laurentides region.
The amounts granted enable the completion of significant projects, such as:
- the improvement of the curve on Route 117 and the reconstruction of the structure above the Saguay River, near Chemin du Lac-Nominingue , in Lac-Saguay ;
- the resurfacing of the roadway of Highway 15 (Laurentides) in Val-David , Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts , Prévost and Saint-Jérôme;
- the continuation of the development of a reserved lane on Highway 15, northbound, between Boisbriand and Mirabel .
“Since 2018, our government has chosen to invest ever more in our infrastructure, particularly in transportation, to make up for the underinvestment of previous governments and provide quality infrastructure to Quebecers. In the context of economic unpredictability we are currently experiencing, this choice is particularly wise, since each project creates jobs, supports our businesses, particularly those targeted by American tariffs, and stimulates the economy in all regions of Quebec. What’s more, one of the best ways to help our industries remain competitive through this transition to new markets and a redefined economy is by providing them with optimal logistical conditions, namely efficient transportation networks. Investing this much is therefore an ambitious choice, but extremely strategic for our citizens and our economy,” said Geneviève Guilbault, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
“The projects that will come to fruition thanks to the funds announced today by my colleague will help ensure safe and smooth travel throughout our region. The quality of life of citizens as well as the socioeconomic vitality of the Laurentians will greatly benefit from the various projects underway, particularly through the creation of quality jobs. I am very pleased to see that despite the current economic uncertainties, we are focusing on the future by continuing the work started on our roads. I have said it loud and clear since I took office as Minister responsible for the Laurentians: our region is overflowing with tourist attractions, enchanting places, hidden treasures that deserve to be discovered, and it is with these road investments that we will be able to enhance the incredible potential of our Laurentians for the good not only of our communities, but of all of Quebec,” said Sonia Bélanger, Minister responsible for Seniors, Minister Delegate for Health and Minister responsible for the Laurentides region.
