The feds said funding announcements would start to come out ASAP, and it seems to have started. Ottawa is getting $376 million for a variety of public works projects, many of which are in the transportation and water sectors.
Two thirds of the funding comes from provincial and federal economic stimulus packages, while the other third comes from the city. Every project funded can be finished within two years--that's in one and a half construction seasons. In theory. There's some concern that municipalities may be fudging their timelines a little in their [...]

CPPIB's projected portfolio for the end of next March has increased infrastructure investments of 2.2 per cent (from 4.3 per cent to 6.5 per cent). As part of the projected shift, it would cut Canadian equity [...]

The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) just released a new report called Wake-Up Call: The National Vision and Voice We Need for Rural Canada.

Transport, Infrastructure and Communities Minister John Baird said in a release yesterday that federal officials are working weekends and evenings to get funding flowing.
"I think for some of our critics to demand perfection and immediate gratification is a bit unrealistic," said Baird. "But I can tell you this [...]
