Substantial completion for Baie-Saint-Paul CHSLD

Posted on July 18, 2017

The Government of Quebec has announced substantial completion of Baie-Saint-Paul’s new residential and long-term care centre (CHSLD). The new centre is located in the same building as the hospital still under construction. The CHSLD has welcomed people housed in the existing hospital and the Pierre-Dupré Accommodation Centre since July 6th. The latter can now be renovated and used for another use, specifically CLSC-type primary care services.

“I am very pleased to inaugurate this new space that will provide a better quality of life for seniors and vulnerable people in the riding,” said Caroline Simard, member of parliament for Charlevoix. “This building is an example of what happens when we work together, and I am committed to the citizens of the region. This welcoming environment will surely please the users, their families and the staff of the CHSLD, because the people of our home deserve the best. ”

The CHSLD has 103 beds, including one respite-breakdown service. The new hospital centre, and the CLSC installed in renovated premises, should reach substantial completion in the second half of 2018. The current hospital will be demolished by the summer of 2019.

The total cost of the entire housing project, including the shelter, the new hospital, the new CLSC, and the demolition of the existing hospital, is approximately $ 275 million.
