Equator Tower

The Equator Tower is a proposed design from New York architecture firm REX. The 80-storey tower, which would include offices, banquet halls, cafeterias, meeting rooms, and other amenities, is the centrepiece of a 173,000 square metre proposal in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The tower’s equatorial location would mean direct sunlight from all four sides, and as such the design includes a retractable, PTFE-coated, glass fibre-reinforced fabric sun shade with 85% opacity, segmented into 4.2m shingles to allow for air circulation and ease of retraction.
