Thunder Bay's Revitalized Waterfront |
|
The City of Thunder Bay commissioned a team led by Brook McIlroy to design a new waterfront mixed-use village and parklands to enhance the City’s image. With a vision led by urban designers, planners, architects and landscape architects, as well as in conjunction with all levels of government, the project demonstrates innovation in creating activities, forms and spaces that integrate local culture and reflect the uniquely indigenous opportunities of sustainable city building in Canada. The waterfront is composed of a series of smaller landscape precincts that vary in size and scope. These include streetscapes, amphitheatres, plazas, multi-use trails, aboriginal healing and ceremonial gardens, and public art installations. |
