Ontario Embarks on More Smart Grid Research |

The culmination of two days of innovation showcases (including more than one robot), Ontario Centres of Excellence, jointly with industry and academia partners, has announced funding support for three research projects to advance technology in data communication, energy storage, and smart distribution systems. The projects, all meant to position Ontario as a leader in smart grid development, involve industry and academic partners Energent and Wilfred Laurier University, Hydrostor and the University of Windsor, and Hydro One Networks and the University of Waterloo. In a statement yesterday, Minister of Energy Chris Bentley said, “Ontario’s commitment to clean energy innovation is helping the province rebuild its electricity system. Projects like these are making us an industry leader.”
