B.C. Creates Incentive Fund for EV Infrastructure

Posted on May 31, 2012

The Province of British Columbia has created a new $2.7-million fund in order to offer incentives for those looking to build electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure.

The Community Charging Infrastructure (CCI) Fund offers two incentives to help build a province-wide network of up to 570 electric vehicle charging stations for both the public and fleets.

Regional districts, municipalities, First Nations, businesses, public institutions and other organizations can all apply for funding which, if awarded, will cover 75 per cent of the cost of purchase and installation of charging stations, to a maximum of $4,000 per station. There’s also a planning incentive to help communities prioritize locations.

The deadline for applications is June 27, 2012.
